Dermaplaning is one of our favorite skincare services offered at Gameela Skin. Dermaplaning is a safe and highly effective physical exfoliation procedure. Our esthetician uses a sterile, surgical scalpel to gently "shave" the skin's surface, removing the top-most layer of dead skin along with fine, vellus hair (also known as peach fuzz) to revitalize the skin. Dermaplaning is sometimes referred to as shaving. In a sense it is similar as it does remove unwanted facial hair - however the surgical scalpel used for the treatment removes facial hair plus many more layers of skin than a standard razor is capable of doing.
Over time, dermaplaning has become an increasingly popular treatment as many clients are able to see almost immediate results without any pain or downtime. When paired with a facial or another skincare treatment, dermaplaning enhances the absorption of masks, oxygen and skincare products - making them much more effective.

WHAT IS DERMAPLANING?
Dermaplaning is a safe and effective manual exfoliation treatment. During the treatment, our esthetician uses a surgical scalpel to “shave” the skin’s surface, removing dead skin, peach fuzz. Dermaplaning is painless and requires no downtime. Our esthetician will end the treatment with a combination of serums that will leave your skin feeling refreshed and smooth.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF DERMAPLANING?
Dermaplaning has many benefits. Along with exfoliating dead skin cells, dermaplaning also removes the vellus hair (peach fuzz) from your face, leaving your skin feeling bright and smooth. Exfoliating your skin allows your beauty products to penetrate deeper into the skin, making them much more effective. Dermaplaning can also help improve hyperpigmentation and discoloration if completed over long periods of time.
HOW LONG IS A DERMAPLANING TREATMENT?
Our dermaplaning facial treatment at Gameela Skin is about 45 minutes. The treatment can be repeated every 3-4 weeks. You will not experience any downtime or recovery after your dermaplaning appointment with the exception of slight redness.
IS DERMAPLANING SAFE?
Yes, our dermaplaning treatment is both safe and effective and is performed by our experienced and licensed esthetician.
IS DERMAPLANING RIGHT FOR MY SKIN?
Dermaplaning is safe and effective for almost all skin types. The only exceptions in which we would not recommend dermaplaning, would be if you are experiencing cystic acne or if you have previously used Accutane. Dermaplaning is a safe alternative for those who might be pregnant or nursing as there are no chemicals used that will be absorbed into the bloodstream.
DOES FACIAL HAIR GROW BACK AFTER DERMAPLANING?
Yes! Your hair will grow back in about 3-4 weeks after your dermaplaning appointment. The hair will NOT grow back darker or thicker -- Dermaplaning does not alter the type of hair grown in any given area.
WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS OF DERMAPLANING?
Dermaplaning is a very low-risk exfoliation treatment. Possible dermaplaning side effects might include slight redness in your face in the hours following your treatment. Some people might also experience a light breakout. We recommend not applying any makeup or heavy skincare products in the hours following your appointment.
