At Home Tips To Make Your Lash Lift Last Longer

We talk a lot about lash lifts around here. I mean, can you blame us? Lash lifts are our favorite way to get a naturally full and curled lash look. 💁🏻‍♀️

Quick refresher: A lash lift is a 45-minute beauty treatment offered at Gameela Skin that acts like a perm for your lashes. The treatment adds a luscious curl from the base to the tip of your eyelashes using a silicone rod and perming solution. A lash lift uses only your natural lashes - no lash extensions required! The treatment can last up to 8 weeks, giving you an effortless and makeup free look.

Are we all caught up? Cool! We have a list of lash lift aftercare directions that we give to our clients at Gameela Skin following their treatment. In addition to these aftercare instructions, there are a few precautions you can take at home following your treatment to help your lash lift last as long as possible.

At Home Tips To Make Your Lash Lift Last Longer

Avoid Water & Makeup Products

As we state in our lash lift aftercare instructions, we highly recommend avoiding water AND makeup products for at least 24 hours after your treatment (& longer if possible). The reason we ask you to keep your lashes dry is to ensure that the curl has the appropriate amount of time to settle and properly form. During this 24 hour time period your lashes are still fairly flexible and susceptible to outside elements.

While we never recommend not washing your face, we do recommend coming to your lash appointment with a clean face and to avoid washing or getting water in/around your eyes within that first 24 hours post treatment.

In addition, we recommend skipping the gym, the sauna, and to avoid standing over any boiling pots - basically keep the lashes AWAY from any and all moisture. The best thing you can do following your lash treatment? Get in your car, call in food to-go, sit on the couch & have a night in. It’s the perfect excuse for some *me* time.😜

Use Gentle Skin and Beauty Products

In the days and weeks following your lash lift treatment, we recommend using only gentle, oil-free skin and body products. Avoid anything that might irritate your skin, eyes, etc. The less harsh chemicals that are used on your skin {those that could potentially interact with the lash perm} the better!

*Shameless Plug* We always recommend our clients to use Jane Iredale’s BeautyPrep Face Cleanser in the days following their treatment. The cleanser doubles as both a makeup remover and moisturizing facial wash. This cleanser is available for purchase online or in-store with Gameela Skin.

Avoid Mascara After Lash Lift

Our favorite benefit to lash lift treatments is the effortless and natural look it gives you. Your lashes look so full, they don’t even need the added mascara. We typically recommend lash lifts as a way to skip eye makeup all together - but if you must, it’s best to wait at least 24 hours following your treatment. Even more:

  • Avoid waterproof mascara all together

  • Wait 48 hours to apply mascara or eye makeup

Keep in mind that with eye makeup, comes makeup remover. Just be cognizant of the products you’ll be using on your skin/eyes following the makeup application.

Apply Lash Serum or lash Conditioner

About 48-72 hours after your lash lift treatment, apply a lash serum or conditioner to your eyelashes. A lash conditioner will help keep your eyelashes strong, soft, and healthy - making the lash curl last even longer. We must care for our lashes the same way we’d care for our hair.

Our top lash conditioner to keep your lashes hydrated is the PureLash Lash Extender by Jane Iredale.

Sleep On Your Back

Where are all my stomach sleepers at? 🙋 We feel you - this is a tough rule to follow. Sleeping on your side or stomach following a lash treatment can subject your lashes to some pretty weird positions for a few hours at a time. Unfortunately this pressure can weaken your lash lift or cause the lashes to lose their shape - not something we want! In efforts to keep your curl and shape for as long as possible, we recommend trying to sleep on your back.

Last but not least! When you wake in the morning, try brushing your lashes upward with a makeup free lash brush to help with their formation. This is typically done best when the lashes are wet (after washing your face or after a shower).
