DIY Brow Lamination... Yikes

Remind Me, What is Brow Lamination

Growing in popularity, eyebrow lamination is the latest secret to full and glossy eyebrows. Next to eye lash lifts, it’s actually one of our more requested beauty treatments at Gameela Skin.

What is eyebrow lamination? It’s kind of like a perm for your brows. The non-invasive treatment gives your brows a set, more uniform shape for an extended period of time so that YOU don’t have to spend time styling them with makeup. Instead of the typical curls we think of when getting a perm, brow lamination involves a setting lotion that helps brow hair stay “brushed up” and lifted upwards. The treatment typically lasts for about six weeks.

Similar to a lot of other beauty treatments that have grown in popularity, DIY eyebrow laminating has been trending. Although brow lamination is a fairly quick and non-invasive treatment, it shouldn’t be done by anyone who is not a licensed professional. Why? We’re giving you all the deets below!

The Benefits of Brow Lamination

First, let’s get a little refresher of WHY we love brow lamination and the pros of getting the beauty treatment. We may be biased, but the benefits are endless ;) To name a few:

  • Brow lamination results require no down time and last about six to eight weeks!

  • The brow treatment is non-invasive & needle free which also means it’s pain free. Brow lamination is a great alternative to microblading - which is a form of permanent makeup for your eyebrows.

  • Brow lamination very natural looking. It takes the hair you already have and gives it more volume. The results are SO natural looking and are easy to maintain.

Brow Lamination Before & After:

Why You Should Trust a Professional for Brow Lamination

DIY brow lamination is the latest and greatest beauty trend! Influencers, Tik-Tokers, your best friend… everyone’s doing it! While we know our clients want to maintain their fuller looking brows in the comfort of their own home, we don’t recommend laminating your own eyebrows. Why?

  • First and foremost, you don’t want to compromise the shape of your eyebrows. If you wouldn’t wax your own eyebrows at home, then why would you laminate your own eyebrows? The skincare professionals at Gameela Skin specialize in brow lamination and we are trained in creating the right brow shape for your facial structure and hair type.

  • Applying the brow lamination treatment incorrectly could leave you with brows that are shaped incorrectly and disproportionate to your face.

  • When clients get their brows laminated, they typically come in for a brow wax and tint as well. Your esthetician can wax your eyebrows, treat for color if needed, and complete your lamination all in the same treatment. We’re trained to select the proper shade for your brows and skin type.

  • Over plucking! To assure we get rid of any stray hairs, we typically clean up your brows prior to applying the brow lamination solution. We know how easy it is to over pluck your brows at home ;) For this reason we recommend only seeking a licensed professional for all of your eyebrow and beauty needs.

  • Last but not least, it’s critical to make sure the products you’re using for your brows are safe for your hair and skin. When purchasing a DIY brow lamination kit online, you can’t be 100% sure where these products are coming from and if the ingredients are safe to use on your skin. At Gameela Skin, not only are our products safe to use, but we apply a skin barrier cream to the brow area to protect the skin and create a safety layer between freshly waxed skin and the lamination solution. This helps soothe any red or irritated skin.

Brow Lamination Aftercare

Although there is hardly any downtime following your brow treatment, there are a few brow lamination aftercare steps that are important to follow to assure the results last up to six weeks.

We recommend the following steps after your appointment:

  • Within the first 24 hours, we recommend avoiding any heat, steam, hard workouts, or sleeping directly on your eyebrows. (We know it’s hard! Try propping yourself up on a few pillows and sleeping on your back)

  • For best & long lasting results, we strongly recommend applying castor oil or another type of hydrating balm onto your brows every single night. Keeping your brows hydrated after your lamination treatment is KEY to keeping them healthy. We cannot stress this enough.

  • After washing your face (or showering), we recommend using a mascara wand to brush the brow hairs into their “set” place before the hairs dry. This will help assure your results last the maximum amount of time. This step goes hand in hand with applying the hydrating balm to your brows.
